Cllr Joan English has lived in the Arun area for 50 years and in Felpham for 40 years and has worked for one of the largest elderly care home providers in the UK for over 16 years. She cares about the elderly and the sheltered housing situation in Arun as well as caring about the environmental issues in our area. Joan has been married to Paul for 38 years and has one daughter.
During her time as a councillor she has sat on the Standards committee and the Housing and Wellbeing committee. On the Housing and Wellbeing committee she was responsible for social and sheltered housing within Arun, and the Wellbeing of all the residents within Arun. She particularly found it rewarding being able to assist residents with their concerns and issues, as well as ensuring that the unnecessary request to fell trees was stopped.
Joan was first elected as a district councillor in a by-election in 2021, successfully gaining the seat from the Liberal Democrats.
